Pamela

I am going to write some memories of my sister Pamela. She was about three years younger than me. As children we played dolls, paper dolls, school, and liked to color and cut and paste with construction paper. I hung out with her more than with my other siblings because we liked to do girly things, A lot of times Pamela would be by herself playing quietly.

I remember one week in the summer we stayed at our grandparents home in Massachusettes. My Mom’s parents. We went to the mall alone together, which was something we didn’t get to do a lot of. ( My grandparents lived behind it.) We had lots of fun walking around. Grandma took us to downtown Boston. We were around 14, and 11 years old. WE had a great time. Grandma treated us to lobster sandwiches, desert, and later we bought fudge. Grandma loved to shop, and we had fun with her . We loved riding the train. Pam and I had sewing we did there. She was sewing a snake for cousin Bobby.

Pam and I would make wind chimes out of ribbons which we braided into birds and fish. Pam was an excellent seamstress. She loved doing crafts, and would glue three dimensional pictures together and frame them. We loved to make belts out of jute string. Pam was much better than I at making things. She liked to make jewelry with beads and things found in nature.

Pam kept a book of sayings with her to read when she had a line to wait in. When she found a saying she liked, she would write it down. She also wrote poetry. I copied her book into one of my own, and added my own saying to it. Grandma has the original. Pam was a pretty good artist, also. Grandma has her pictures hanging up.

Pam loved make-up and doing hair. She had beautiful hands, and she would polish her nails.

In High School, she started violin lessons, but Mom said she was very sensitive about anyone hearing her make mistakes, and so she was too embarrassed to practice, so …she quit.

Pam was very busy with friends. I was at college, and when I came home I worked, so we didn’t have much time together. We had a talk once before I left for school, where we became closer…talking about how grateful we were to be in the family we were in. Another time, I remember talking, and she expressed how she loved life, but never wanted to grow old and sick.

She loved youth.

She worked at JB Big Boy restaurant during her senior year in high school, and when it got slow, she told me she got too silly from boredom and being tired, and would sing camp songs to the regulars who would come in.

We had one year at BYU together. We met for ice- cream to talk a few times. We took a tennis class together. She got a better grade than I did! The teacher used to tease us.

It meant a lot to me that she went to my graduation exercises and we took a picture together.

Pam had a fun social life a t BYU. She was very creative, and had a strong testimony of the gospel. I went to her ward party once to be with her. I only remember people thinking I was the younger sister, because she was taller. She also was more stylish and classier than me. When I taught in Ogden, I would drive down to visit Pam and Cindy.

I love Pam. I will be very happy when I see her again. She was my very best friend growing up. We just lived life. I spent most of my time with her when we went to the beach, or ran under the sprinklers. When we got older, school separated us. She had LOTS of friends, and boys who had crushes on her. I pray for her all the time. I’m greatful the priesthood binds our family through the generations, eternally.

My drive to Seattle

My dad and I made the trek up from UT to Seattle with all my stuff in a big UHaul. My car was towed behind the Uhaul and 15 hours of driving later we made it to my parent's house. My Dad was a rock star he drove the WHOLE way and I slept for like 8 hours of it. So on my end it was clear sailing haha Above is a side ways view of our drive (I was too lazy to flip it)
Before we left I took him to Tucanos for his birthday. They sing with big bongo drums and make you get up to dance. Well no one danced with quite as much gusto as my Dad (I know that doesn't surprise anyone haha - he got high fives afterwards)

NYC

Just thought I would updated everyone on my move! My Dad is flying down to UT the 27th to help me pack up the car and UHaul. We will be driving home to Seattle all day the 28th. From there I'll fly out to NYC on like the 4th or 5th of March. I can't wait!

I'm very excited to get to go see Grandma and Grandpa and everyone more often up there :) I have an apartment all lined up with LDS girls right in midtown. And I sold my housing contract here in Provo mid semester which is unheard of. So things are working out. (Just need a job hahaha)

I'm very excited to live in a city where you can find a big lego Chewy....

Weekly letter from Isaac

OKAY...SO, life....yea, it is going great! Elder Wright is a champ, I love being a missionary, and baptising someone is about the best thing I have ever done in my life! Last Saturday I was privileged to baptise Tagen Rene Gaultney :) it went wonderful! Her nonmember grandmother and father were there. It was amazing. I was so nervous, I forgot a towel and a change of shirts but it all worked out in the end! When I think of it I want to shout for joy (but I am in a library) she is a brilliant young lady who will go far in life due to her desire to be close to Christ!! Elder Wright Confirmed her a member and blessed her with the Gift of the Holy Ghost on Sunday during Sacrament! I was given the opportunity to stand in the circle. I loved it.

During me baptising Tagen Gaultney, I did not recognize the peace that was there, I wanted so bad for her to feel the spirit, so she knew It was done by proper authority, she did. After I changed back into a suit and especially when every one was done and gone, and I was back out on the streets knocking doors and talking to people (we had an hour left of proselyting time we used to contact a neighbor of ours whom we lent the movie "The Restoration to") I felt a quite, yet when focused on encompassing, feeling of peace.

God saw fit in his infinite goodness to bless me with a tender mercy in feeling a greater abundance of the spirit due to the ordinance I was given the opportunity to take part in. Truly he is our loving Heavenly Father. Our Savior lives, I know it, I know God is real. I know these things due to much prayer, much study, and pondering the mysteries of life.

Our God is the best.
Truly Elder Lomeli

Letter from Isaac!

We wanted to share the most recent letter from Isaac so here it is!!
___________________________________________

hahaha maybe I shouldn't have told you about the Dog attacks ;)I am fine, no worries, the last dogs that attacked me got my foot in their jaws...both of them...and one got my companion's (Elder Howick at the time) foot in his jaw also ;) then I chased them!!! Aaaaand the nonmember was looking out the window the whole time...but it was a part member family anyway, so they were fine. Well life is great, The Lord has called me to train again. Elder Wright it my new companion! He is awesome. He loves teaching, he is obedient, and he has a great desire to be the best he can be!!!

I am so glad that the Lord sent me to New Mexico, it has made me truly learn so much. Especially how to answer all the tough questions :). Well Tagen Gaultney is getting baptised this Friday!!! We have taught her all the lessons. We established daily contact by calling each night and giving a scripture to read!!! We fasted during General Conference to know how to help the father...I feel we just need to get him to read the Book of Mormon and fast and pray over it. Now getting him to Want to do that will be the challenge. He is a great fella, We are still praying and pondering to figure out how to help his family be an Eternal family!!

We will get 3 baptisms this month...I will do my best to make sure of it! Missy Romero and Kyndra Viallobos need to be baptised. It is always the women getting baptised it seems! The darn men need to become smarter!!! :) (Kambria will probably like that) :) Tagen had her interview on Sunday at 12:00, and the Morris family is helping with the baptism and such.

General Conference = AMAZING!!I loved both of Elder Uckdorf's talks. His talk on Hope was by far one of the best talks for me to hear. In the end, Elder Hollands talk was my favorite. To be honest I was in tears by the end of it. So were other Elders (the Zone leaders I call and report to each night). Truly it was a timely talk for me to hear. I remember the times I have sliped up as a missionary, so many times, and felt alone and in need of forgiveness. I am glad there are apostles to strengthen, lift, and support us, so we realize just how much our God truly does love us. They are true Prophets and Apostles. The spirit of God says so.

Being a District Leader can make me feel inadequate at times, yet Elder Uckdorfs talk on hope helps me realize the character to have, and the mind frame to stay with: one of hope and a firm knowledge that My Lord and Your Lord is on the side of the righteous. That means a ton to me. The trials that have lead me to rely on him so much also mean a lot to me, as do the moments where I felt alone, for without them I would not know the power of my God, and the truth that he will help his faithful servants in the end and in the eternities.

Love always
Elder Isaac Benjamin Lomeli(p.s. love you all)
